Additional subjects

Our curriculum has been designed to open the door to the industry, and equip students with what they need to succeed, whether they intend to progress direct to work, set up as a freelancer, move into an apprenticeship, or transition to the very best university provision.

Each course/pathway is modular, and underpinned by Level 3 BTEC qualifications (worth the equivalent of 3 A'Levels), with both compulsory modules, and optional components.

Every full-time, 2-year, study programme consists of:

  • A Core Qualification(s) (BTEC Level 3 worth 3 A'levels) (1080 Guided Learning Hours)

  • Personal and Professional Development Programme (160 Guided Learning Hours)

  • Industry Qualifications (60 Guided Learning Hours)

  • Work Placements (10-45 days)

  • English and Maths (For those who have not already achieved a GCSE grade 4 or above)

This means that there is very limited time left on the timetable for students to undertake any additional qualifications. However, a limited number of A'Level or equivalent qualifications are offered every year, depending on resourcing and capacity. Any additional options and opportunities are discussed during enrolment once a student has gained a place at boa stage and screen production academy.

The following are examples of subjects we do intend to run as 'additionals', depending on numbers:

  • English Literature
  • Extended Project Qualification
  • Arts Award

The entry requirement for an additional qualifications/subjects is 5 good academic results. This should include at least a grade 6 (ideally 7) in the subject of your choice.

NB. Please note that we have set these expectations as a guide, but we consider all requests to study additional subjects on an individual basis.

GCSE ENGLISH & MATHS

IT IS A NATIONAL REQUIREMENT FOR ANY STUDENT WHO HAS NOT YET ACHIEVED AT LEAST A GRADE 4 (C) IN GCSE ENGLISH AND/OR MATHS TO CONTINUE STUDYING THE SUBJECT UNTIL THEY ACHIEVE A GRADE 4 PASS.

We provided a personalised, interventional English and Maths curriculum, which is specifically designed and sequenced to cater to individual learners' needs and deliver the success they deserve.
